Hobbies Make the World Go 'Round

Like most, some of our hobbies and toys that keep us happy at home.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Second Amendment, Bill of Rights, Constitution of the United States of America.  "Live Free or Die".  Motto of a free state.

The second amendment is the result of private individuals using their own firearms, organizing into independent militia units, promoted for the common defense and to secure their freedoms by defending themselves from their enemies as well as their own government.  It is this amendment that gives the people the power to protect all the other freedoms that some elements of our society want to remove and grant as exclusive rights only to the government.   Do we remember the Wigs and the Tories?    I hope so, as they were no different back in the time when we were trying to form a free nation than they are now, by other names, such as Liberals and Conservatives.  Which is which???

As for firearms in the movies:   Don't we wish that we could do what they do?   Hard to believe that so many people believe that they can.  In any case, in almost all movies, firearms are present and represent death and destruction.  It would be nice to see a movie about collectors, target shooters, or even hunters with out the negative overtones.  Maybe a movie that the use of firearms actual represents what they are really all about when used by the honest everyday citizen.  Hard to imagine, that the people who make movies, with their political inclinations, would produce a movie favorable to the average citizen.

Peter has developed significant experience in identification and use of a variety of firearms, especially historical military rifles. He has spotted more than one historical mistake in the dozens of war movies he has in his collection.

Most Movies can be watched once.   Some can be watched more than once and others, like these, can be watched at any time.   The following movies are in no special order and reflect the excitment and lack of realism that makes them a valuable entertainment escape.

Peter is a movie buff extraordinaire. When betamax came out, he was there. When VHS came out, he was there. When DVD came out he was there. You can be sure that Peter is surveying the technological horizon in order to ride the next wave that will roll in from the cinematic sea across his video collection.  Of course, it would be nice if they stayed with one format for a while.

Peter has been a long-time fan of the outdoors, which in part, accounts for his move to Northern New England. Thanks to influences from his number one son, Peter learned to birdwatch. He also enjoys spending weekends in his camper with wife, Jeanne, often frequent the likes of state parks.
